Cobalt ferrite, Co(FeO2)2

Cobalt ferrite, Co(FeO2)2, is obtained by addition of normal sodium hydroxide solution to a mixed solution of cobalt nitrate and ferric chloride, and igniting. It is a black powder, magnetic when cold, but non-magnetic above 280° to 290° C.
