Ferrous thiocarbonate hexammoniate, Fe2C2S7.6NH3

Ferrous thiocarbonate hexammoniate, Fe2C2S7.6NH3.2H2O, is prepared by warming a mixture of ferrous hydroxide, aqueous ammonia, and carbon disulphide. It yields black tetragonal prisms, with violet iridescence. On exposure to air it decomposes with heat, ferric hydroxide resulting.
