Ferrous thiocarbonate hexammoniate, Fe₂C₂S₇.6NH₃

Ferrous thiocarbonate hexammoniate, Fe₂C₂S₇.6NH₃.2H₂O, is prepared by warming a mixture of ferrous hydroxide, aqueous ammonia, and carbon disulphide. It yields black tetragonal prisms, with violet iridescence. On exposure to air it decomposes with heat, ferric hydroxide resulting.
