Sodium ferrothiocyanate, Na4Fe(CNS)6
Sodium ferrothiocyanate, Na4Fe(CNS)6.12H2O, is prepared by dissolving ferrous carbonate in thiocyanic acid and adding sodium thiocyanate. The salt crystallises in colourless tablets, which are soluble in water, as also in alcohol, yielding bright rose-coloured solutions.
