Strontium ferrate, SrFeO3

Strontium ferrate, SrFeO3, is produced by evaporating to dryness a mixed solution of ferric and strontium nitrates, and heating in a current of oxygen to a temperature not exceeding 600° C. until no more oxides of nitrogen are evolved. It is also produced by suspending freshly precipitated ferric hydroxide in a concentrated solution of strontium hydroxide, and heating the resulting brownish precipitate to 300° C. It resembles the barium salt.
